When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and username. When you use Rato, we collect the ratings, reviews, and lists you create. If you enable location features, we collect location data to provide nearby recommendations and trip tracking.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the Rato service
  • Show you personalized recommendations
  • Enable social features (following, activity feeds)
  • Send you notifications you've opted into
  • Provide location-based features when enabled

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your public profile, ratings, and reviews may be visible to other users based on your privacy settings. We may share anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on servers within the European Union. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Export your data (available in Settings)
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Opt out of marketing communications

6. Location Data

Location data is only collected when you explicitly enable location features. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings. Background location is only used for trip tracking when you have an active trip.

7. Third-Party Services

We use Apple Sign In for authentication. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email (or a private relay address if you choose to hide your email). We do not share your data with other third-party services without your consent.

8. Children's Privacy

Rato is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
