The idea

One model for everything you experience

Most apps box you in. Untappd is for beer. Goodreads is for books. Letterboxd is for movies. Rato is built around three simple ideas that work for anything.

🧩

Items + Categories

Everything rateable is an Item. Categories define how it behaves — what aspects you rate, whether it has a location, whether arriving there triggers a trip.

Add a new category like "Board Games" without writing a single line of code.

📝

Events log everything

Rate, consume, finish, check in, wishlist, note. Every interaction is an event — so the same beer rated at home and at a brewery in Belgium tells a different story.

No more "I think I read this in 2019?" — your timeline knows.

🗺️

Context gives meaning

Trips, sessions, tastings, festivals. Group events into contexts with goals, waypoints, and AI-generated memories. "Belgium Beer Trip 2024 — try 50 unique beers."

Your data isn't a list — it's a map of your life.

What you can do

Not just ratings. A whole toolkit.

Rate

Multi-aspect ratings tuned per category — taste, mouthfeel, plot, mileage, you name it.

📓

Review

Add notes, photos, and thoughts alongside any rating.

🗒️

Log & track

Record what you experienced, even without rating it. Your timeline remembers.

📚

List & collect

Wishlists, favorites, owned collections — with prices, conditions, and notes.

📍

Log arrivals at breweries, cinemas, ski resorts. Auto-suggested by location.

🔍

Discover

Semantic search, nearby finds, and personalized recommendations.

🎙️

Voice log

"Just had an amazing cortado, 9 out of 10." Done. Hands-free rating.

🧾

Scan receipts

Snap a receipt — every line item is matched, priced, and ready to rate.

🗺️

Trip & sessions

Group events into contexts with goals, waypoints, and AI-generated memories.

👥

Share & follow

See what friends rate, collaborate on lists, swap recommendations.

🏆

Badges & streaks

Year in review, milestones, leaderboards. Make it a habit.

💱

Marketplace

Sell from your collection or buy from other users — uses the lists you already have.

Universal by design

224+ categories. 104K items. Growing fast.

Coffee shops in Tokyo. Vinyl from your local record store. The hike you did last summer. The wine you tasted at dinner. Every category is database-driven, so the model bends to your life — not the other way around.

Roadmap

Where Rato is, and where it's going

We're building in public, in clear phases. Here's what's live, what's next, and what's coming.
